The theme this time was fairly straight-forward: "Pick any previous challenge and re-do it (or do it for the first time). It could be one that you didn’t finish, one that you wish you’d had more time for, or any time for, or one where you loved the theme so much you want to do it again."
So much to do, and a LARP fast approaching; I ended up doing three mini projects.
3. Black and white: A pocket handkerchief
Another running joke within the LARP is that I, who normally don't cry easily (though I'm easier and easier moved as years pass, it's my grandpa's genes, I'm sure!), tend to end up with teary eyes and a big lump in my throat at least once per event due to the scary letter-writing skills of the organisers. It's also a well-known fact that you always need something for events - dribbly nose or eyes that water from wind or sun or makeup or whatever, and paper tissues are hygienic and all that, but never period. And you just can't get pocket handkerchiefs any more, it seems. So, last night before the event I raided the stash:
Year: Uhm... say 1500s onwards here as well
Notions: White polyester thread, tatted lace
How historically accurate is it? I guess the lace is cotton, tatted lace not HA, pocket handkerchiefs sort of around, linen, handsewn... 70%?
Hours to complete: 6
First worn: Last weekend. I didn't use it, though! Character had no time to cry over her letters, crying had to be postponed.
Total cost: Perhaps 25 sek (3 euros) for the linen, rest from stash.
